Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is, according to Microsoft, effective at blocking more than 99% of automated account attacks. It's inexpensive to implement, takes minutes to set up, and is the single highest-impact security measure most small businesses can take.
MFA works by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password. Even if an attacker steals or guesses your password, they cannot access your account without the second factor — which is typically a code from an authenticator app, a push notification to your phone, or a hardware security key.
Modern MFA implementations through Microsoft Authenticator, Duo Security (available via AppDirect), or similar tools are nearly frictionless for end users. Conditional access policies can be configured to require MFA only when logging in from new devices or unfamiliar locations — minimizing friction while maximizing security.
As part of our managed services onboarding, RTS enables and configures MFA across all client accounts. We also conduct phishing-resistant MFA implementations for clients with higher security requirements.
If you're not using MFA yet, that changes today. Contact RTS and we'll set it up for you.
