Immutable copies
A backup that ransomware can encrypt is not a backup. Immutable storage can’t be altered or deleted, even with stolen admin credentials.

The restore gets rehearsed on a schedule, timed, and documented — so recovery time is a measurement, not a guess.

Doesn’t Microsoft back up our email?
Microsoft protects its infrastructure and gives you short retention windows — that’s it. Recovering data you deleted, an employee purged, or ransomware encrypted is your responsibility, and it’s the most common misunderstanding in small business IT.
How fast could we be back up?
That’s a design decision, not a fixed fact — it depends on what you protect and where the copies live. We design to a recovery-time target you choose, then prove it in a drill.
We have an external drive someone swaps. Is that enough?
It’s better than nothing and worse than you think: it depends on a human, it’s often plugged in when ransomware hits, and it’s rarely tested. It can stay as one layer — it just can’t be the plan.
